NOTD: Julep's Alyson and a contest win for me!

Julep 'Alyson' & Deborah Lippmann's 'Whatever Lola Wants'

I tried out my new Julep polish on Monday, and by Tuesday evening it was a chipped mess. So far, I am not impressed with Juleps quality. The application was seamless, and it dried quickly, but on my first night of wear, 'Alyson' chipped a little bit. By the second evening, the chipping was atrocious and I had to remove the Julep polish as soon as I got home. However, it was extremely difficult to remove! For some reason, the polish that didn't chip off seemed glued to my nails and it took multiple cotton pads to get all of it off, which I'm not used to from a non-glittery polish. As you can see, I was still wearing Deborah Lippmann's 'Whatever Lola Wants' from my last manicure on my ring finger, and NO I did not re-do it, it just has fantastic wearing power! I took it off when I removed my Julep polish, but it gave a good run.

In more exciting news, I won a giveaway from beautycrazed.ca ! They were giving away a Quo palette, and I was one of two lucky winners! It arrived in perfect condition via fedex today:

  2. I love that Julep polish color, I'm sorry it didn't go so well. I hate when you get a pretty color and it turns out to be a bad formula.
(Got so distracted by the color with my first comment I didn't even see that it turned out to be a bust!)
That palette also looks great and colorful. The blushes look pretty, I really like the one on the far right. Grats on winning! (:

    1. I know I am so excited about all the blush options in this palette! I'm not big into eye shadow (if I wear any at all, it'll be neutrals) but blush?? I'm all about it!
as for the Julep, I hope the other colours I received hold up a bit better!

  8. I have about 30 colours of Julep and have only had problems with 2 and no chipping. I just wonder if they're all over the place with their formulas? I know some are worse than others...My blake and Anne are just too thick to apply and I haven't had a chance to pick up thinner yet..it annoys me to do so.

As for the giveaway...holy moly I'm jealous!!!! I've been eyeballing that palette every.single.time. I walk into Shoppers! I'm waiting for a sale. ;)

    1. hm I wonder about that too, maybe since its such a small (but growing) company they haven't got their consistencies worked out. I will try another polish and hope for better luck. I really liked the look of Alyson though so I'm sad that it didn't hold up at all.

  11. Do you use a top coat?

Because I find that when I use Julep nail polish, with a top coat, there is very very little chipping. Mine can last at least one week with no chipping, and by the second, it's only a little around the edges (probably due to cleaning around the house and typing).

  12. I haven't been that impressed with Julep's quality lately. The majority of my bottles separate after only a few days! Since they are so expensive, I expect more.
Congrats on the win! That's awesome :)

    1. yes apparently Juleps formulas vary a lot with their colours, so it might just be luck of the draw! I am wearing Hayden now, and it is a matte neon peach! totally different application compared to Alyson.
