REVIEW: LUSH Bubblegum Lip Scrub

LUSH bubblegum lip scrub
LUSH makes excellent products for all parts of the body, but I particularly love their LIP SCRUBS! There are three flavours currently available for purchase, Sweet Lips (chocoholics, check it out!), Mint Julips (minty chocolately goodness!) and my personal fave, Bubblegum ($8.95/25g). This tub may look tiny for the price, but you hardly use any each time you apply it. I've been using my tub since December '11 and look how full it still is!
This blend of Fair Trade sugar and deeply moisturizing jojoba oil helps keep lips soft and kissable. This scrub is 100% edible- you could scoop it into your mouth for a treat if you wanted, but that's not what it is for!! To use, glide some of the scrub over your chapped or dry lips, rub your lips together, and then lick off the excess. You should have silky smooth lips after application, and it tastes really yummy.
When I use it, I will put a touch of lip balm on first to ensure that the scrub really sticks easily to my lips. If you try to apply this product to bone dry lips, it may get a bit messy!

as with all LUSH products, the label shows the date it was made on, as well as a 'best before' date! Rosie was kind enough to make this lovely scrub for me- THANKS ROSIE :)

the few ingredients used in this fantastic lip scrub
I use this product once or twice a week, and I apply lip balm daily. This routine keeps my lips very soft and smooth! I highly recommend this product to anyone who has problems with dry lips as it isn't overly abrasive  and works well! I wish it didn't have dyes in it, but LUSH really likes to make their products colourful and 'fun'. It is a very pretty pink, but I personally would love it just the same if it was naturally coloured.

Do you use lip scrubs? Tell me about your favourite brands!

  1. I make my own lipscrub :) Just so I know what goes into it and I know it won't go off because I only make enough to last a week at a time

    3. No bother :) I put half a teaspoon of sugar, quarter teaspoon of honey, a few drops of extra virgin olive oil and a few dops of vanilla (to make it smell nicer :P ) in a little tub and mix it up! You can add more sugar to make it more grainy and the honey helps to stick it on to your lips so it doesn't go everywhere.

    1. I've read on the LUSH FB page about people eating it just for the sake of eating it! it is a lot cheaper to just eat straight sugar ;) haha.

    1. yes! really, we shouldn't use any lip products that aren't edible though!! I hate to think of all the nasty chemicals ingested via lipstick/gloss.

    3. ocean salt, rub rub rub, a body butter (buffy is most popular), definitely some bar soap (sniff them and pick your fav!), and they have fabulous fresh face masks (get the SA to pick one for you based on skin type and concerns). I love Honey Trap lip balm too!

  18. I use to use lip scrubs but haven't in awhile. I really should.. everything looks better on freshly scrubbed lips.. and when the product is this cute you can't go wrong. Quick question: how closely do you follow the expiration dates for LUSH products? I have purchased a couple of their fresh face masks but can never use the whole thing before it expires :( I'm too nervous to use it after the date.

    1. With the fresh face masks, you can freeze them! I won't use it past expiry. however, a few days before it expires I stick it in the freezer and then scoop some out to use as needed. I apply it 'frozen' on my face! it still works :)
With other products, I don't usually worry about the expiration-- only with facial care stuff. I try to use things up before they expire though.

  20. Could you do a post about tips for keeping makeup nice and fresh looking in the summer heat? I have dry skin around my mouth/cheeks and need to use moisturizer, but I find when I do, it melts easily and makes me look like I’m sweating more! It’s so annoying and makes me so self conscious.

I also have another product on the way that is supposed to help too, I will do a review on it and also include other tips for keeping makeup looking fresh in the summer :) Thanks for the suggestion!!
