TOPBOX - June 2012

How awesome is Topbox? It is barely into June and I already have my box! I love this company because their boxes are small enough to fit in the mailbox which means if I'm not home, I don't have to go to the post office to pick it up later. When I got home today from work, I saw the round tube in my mailbox and a huge smile suddenly appeared on my face!
For those of you who are unfamiliar with it, Topbox is one of Canada's subscription beauty box programs. For only $10 a month (plus tax) you get a lovely box filled with premium cosmetic samples delivered right to your door. You can usually expect four samples per month, although sometimes you get more!
As is to be expected, my parcel was very carefully wrapped in order to ensure safe travelling. Everything came in perfect condition.
In my June Topbox I received:
Bread & Butter Face Shave Gel (full size) (retail price not listed)
mark Gloss Gorgeous Stay on Lip Stain in Frilly (full size) (retails for $12.00/1.5g)
Simple Eye Makeup Remover (56 ml) (full size retails for $9.99/125 ml)
stila Forever Your Curl mascara (3.5 ml) (full size retails for $29.00/7 ml)
Pari Beauty's Precious Glow Eyeshadow Primer (sample size not listed) (full size retails for $15.00/10ml)
+ a bonus item: 3 packets of Garnier BB cream
June '12 Topbox

Simple Eye Makeup Remover
I already received a Simple eye makeup remover in my May Glossybox, which I actually gave to my sister because I don't use eye makeup remover! I guess I will give this one to someone else too. It is a decently sized sample and it is a good product! I just don't personally have use for it.
stila Forever Your Curl Mascara
The sample sized stila mascara will be perfect to throw in my handbag! I have never used a stila mascara before and I look forward to trying it out! This mascara's formula has lash-curl memory that continually curls lashes throughout the day.
Bread & Butter Shave Gel
I knew to expect this Bread & Butter shaving cream in my box because Topbox emailed their subscribers last month asking them if they would prefer to try the shave cream or the facial cleanser. This brand is marketed toward men, but I will totally use this shave cream for my legs. It is a Canadian based company, woo hoo :)
mark lip stain in 'frilly'
This full-sized mark lip stain was sent out to some subscribers in past boxes, if I recall correctly. I think the colour might be a little much for me. I already have one red lip colour that I use from LUSH (A million kisses) and that is all the red I need. I usually prefer more neutral lip colours. However, I may try this out just for kicks, or pass it off to a friend. Topbox says this is a personalized shade to match my 'likes' from my beauty survey, but I am pretty sure I said I like neutrals on the survey? Oh well :)
Pari Beauty's precious glow eyeshadow primer is a liquid shimmer lotion which can be used on the face, eyes or body according to the info card. They suggest using it as a highlighter, or as a base for your eyeshadow. I am hesitant with cream highlighters because I feel like they don't look natural on my skin, but I will play with this. It is a gorgeous shimmery pale pink.
On top of the five samples, Topbox included three sample packets of Garnier's bb cream. I have read quite a few reviews on this cream. It seems like it makes a lot of peoples skin feel greasy and look shiny. My face is already shiny enough, so these will be going to my dry-skinned sister! I will stick to Marcelle's bb cream, which I use every day and LOVE!

Overall, I quite enjoyed this box. It had LOTS of makeup products in it, which is nice. It sort of evened out my May Glossybox which had more skin care and body care items. It is funny that I catergorize my May Glossybox in with my June Topbox, but they honestly ship very close together since Glossybox ships at the very end of each month and Topbox ships at the very start of the following month!!
Topbox is currently on a 4-5 month waiting list, so if you are at all interested in getting a subscription you should go to their website and get on the wait list today! If you want to get a beauty box subscription NOW and not wait for a Topbox, I strongly recommend Glossybox- I have some reviews of their boxes, check it out here.

    1. haha yes, they stated that since Father's Day was coming up, they wanted to give out a product that you could potentially pass on as a gift to dad! but I will use mine. it doesn't smell manly, it hardly smells at all actually!

  7. Great box! I am still on the waiting list... I am not a fan of the Garnier's bb cream at all. My skin is sensitive and it actually felt like it was burning when I used it. Thankfully it was only a sample that I got at a Lawtons Mother's Day event so I didn't waste any money! Funny though I have no problems with the asian bb creams!

    1. yes I have heard no good things about Garniers but I gave the samples to my sister, she's never had a bb cream before and maybe she'll like it. I hate for things to go to waste.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a good one that ships to the U.S. (I've heard of MyGlam but mostly negative things)

    1. Jayne, I highly doubt you will get a repeat sample. Topbox is too organized for that. I figure that since I am a newer member and this is my 2nd box, I got a sample from a past box. How did you like the lipstain, btw?

ps. it helps that I live an hour out of Toronto, which is why I get mine so much faster than you over in Vancity!!

    2. The lipstain feels like a lipgloss to me. It's alright, nothing too spectacular...you're right, those Topbox gals are way too organized for that. They've got their act together that's for sure! I'm so jelly of you guys out East!

    1. yes, a lot of beauty subscription boxes in the States are very expensive! we have it good in Canada :) however, you pay much less for cosmetics outright at the store so you still win lol

  25. i just picked mine up today so it was time i finally read this since it felt like you posted this AGESSS ago. the products we got were quite different! i think it's because i chose not to receive any of the products for men, but now that you mentioned using it on your legs i'm like "why didn't i think of that!".
anyways, i found the mark lip"stain" very sheer (i have the same color). more peachy than red
