HAUL! MAC, St Ives, Zinc, Barielle

I hit up the mall yesterday and ended up shopping my heart out!
I picked up 4 candles from Bath & Body Works because they're have a great sale on right now. I got two frosted cupcake (my fave!), one peach bellini and one carribean escape.
From American Eagle, I got a pair of black skinny jeans, a pair of mid-length jean shorts, and a pretty white lace top. They are also having big sales going on now!
From Aldo, I got a gorgeous gold leaf necklace. I love their fashion jewelry because it is inexpensive but always fairly well-made and beautiful.
At Winners, I picked up two new Ralph Lauren pillows for only $19.99! I also grabbed two decorative leaf plates for $5.99 each.
Here are my beauty-related buys:
The MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in 'medium' ($34.00/10g) doesn't really need an explanation- it is a cult classic and I am pretty sure most if not all of you own one or know of it. I am getting low on my current powder so I decided to grab this because I was doing a 'Back 2 MAC' return where I took in 6 empty MAC containers in exchange for a lipstick. I grabbed Vegas Volt which I had been eyeing for quite some time. The Sale Associate told me it seemed to be the most popular lip colour this summer and that they'd been selling it like hotcakes!
St. Ives Naturally Clear Cleansing Cloths with witch hazel
If you saw my recent empties post, you'll know I used up my travel wipes so I grabbed these because they were on sale for $6.99! St Ives isn't really a brand I buy usually, but these wipes are made for acne-prone skin with witch hazel so I decided to grab them! I used one last night and really like it, although the wipe is smaller than Simple's cleansing wipes.
Barielle Clearly Noticeable Nail Thickener ($5.99 at Winners)
At Winners, I grabbed this Barielle nail strengthener for $5.99. My nails have been so flaky lately, to the point that I cannot grow them out and I've had to keep them cut very short! I don't really know why, but I am hoping this will help. Anyone have experience with this nail strengthener? I do use cuticle oil on my nails daily to help them but it hasn't been paying off!
Lastly, I bought a bottle of Zinc. I recently talked to a homeopath about my acne. I told her I was taking Cod Liver Oil capsules for it. She told me that those were fine, but that I should really be taking 50mg of Zinc every day! I grabbed some yesterday and I will try it out. I did some online research and apparently many people with acne have had great results from Zinc. My research says that chelated Zinc is the best (which I didn't buy) and that if you take Zinc on an empty stomach it will make you nauseous. I will keep you all updated on my results of adding this supplement to my daily routine!

I hope Zinc clears me up once and for ALL! If not, I am gonna bite the bullet and order some Mario Badescu products- however they really focus on treatment and I want PREVENTION!

  2. I had no idea St Ives had wipes ^^ I love their face scrubs and body moisturizers, they're very good. Hope the Zinc works for you. I use to take this vitamin pills that had Magnesium and Zinc and my skin improved a lot... actually it wouldn't be such a bad idea to start taking those again ^^

  4. I recently got a boxed set of Barielle nail polishes. I had never even heard of the brand before.. but I really like them so far. They are very thick and seem to be really good quality. Plus they leave out a lot of nasty toxic ingredients! :) www.simplyalexandramyfavoritething.blogspot.com - Alexandra

    2. I don't know where they sell it in the US. I ran across it at a store called TJ Maxx that picks up what doesn't get sold other places. Got a package of 5 or 6 for $9.99 - US dollars. :)

    1. I usually don't do FOTD because my skin is crappy and not luminous and pretty like most girls who do FOTD :P

  12. Great haul!! I love aldo's jewelry!! I hope the zinc works for you! If you are finding that it isn't don't give up on it.. A little word to the wise.. drugstore vities etc have more fillers in them then those found at a health store. My nails have gone all weird on my in the last week. They are peeling and breaking and I was so mad I cut them all down. The only thing that I did different was use the zoya polish remover and Sally Hanson complete care 4 in 1 treatment! I've stopped both to see what happens.. I find one thing that is huge for me for nail growth is cuticle creams & oils.. If I use them 2-3 times a day my nails are long in 2 weeks. Check out PinksoFoxy on youtube.. She has beautiful nails and gives a great tut on how she takes care of them. Hers use to peel too!! I'll have to check out the lipstick. Our Mac store is right across from our Sephora so good excuse lol... I've never tried the mac mineralize skin finishes before.. Hides face lol. I did just buy another beauty powder from Mac in the play it proper shade!! I am so needing a frosted cupcake candle!!!

  13. I totally agree that zinc helps prevent and heal zits. I take it daily. In fact, I always make sure I take vitamin B (apparently also prevents acne), milk thistle (to help the liver work better), and dong quai (to balance hormones)...after consuming this combo for several months, my skin stabilized.

  15. Fantastic haul.. I am thinking of going to shoppers tomorrow and doing some damage similar to this lol. Can't wait to hear about your results from zinc.. does it just help face acne or problems on your back to? I don't have anything bad but once in awhile I will get a few here and there.
