Cheap Beauty-Buy Wins

I saw a fun post idea over at All Glitzed Up blog and decided to take part and do my own post to share some of my cheap beauty-buy wins and pricey beauty-buy fails! Everyone has been there- you shell out major cash for an expensive item that doesn't live up to its claims. On the flip side, you may try a cheaper branded item and find out it has amazing value!

I will be honest and admit I usually spend more money and go with higher end brands. I don't have very many drug store branded items in my makeup arsenal. This is because of a few factors. Firstly, I like to buy products that use good quality, non-toxic ingredients and a lot of drug store brands use really cheap, chemical-laden ingredients in their makeup. Secondly, I generally think that higher end brands give better quality payoff. However, this is NOT always the case!
Here are my Cheap Beauty-Buy Wins:
#1: Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters! I think these are pretty well-known in the beauty blog community and there is a reason for it! Revlon gives you lots of great colour choices with this line, and the product itself is an excellent mix of lipstick and lip balm! My current favourite is Creme Brulee! These are very well-priced and can be bought on sale for around $7.00 in Canada.
#2: Elf's Kabuki Brush! This little guy cost me a mere $6.00! This feathery soft brush doesn't shed, and it is just as effective as my $40.00 Kabuki brush! I would definitely recommend this brush to all of you- I couldn't believe the quality of this brush when I started to use it. It is a definite cheapie win!
#3: Marcelle Xtension Plus Mascara. I was totally blown away by the quality of this drugstore mascara, which sells for around $12.00 a tube. It gives me amazing length and volume- I get tons of compliments on my lashes whenever I wear this product. I love that it is affordable because it means I can keep on buying it over and over without ever cringing at the price like I do with my high end mascaras!

TELL ME: what are some of your cheapie products that turned out to be an amazing value?

My lip butter is like the only thing I use, I am super excited to try out the kissable balms from Revlon, they were supposed to launch here in August, crossing my fingers I find them soon!!

  2. I really love my Maybelline color tattoos in Tough as Taupe and Bad to the Bronze. I have really oily eyelids so they don't last the 24 hours, but almost all day and they look great on their own and with eyeshadow on top! :)

I am like you and am guilty for leaning towards high end brands for most of my producs. I might do a post like this though as I do have a few HG drugstore products lying around!
