REVIEW: Boscia Blotting Linens in Vanilla

You may have started thinking about Fall -- I know I have. It is my favourite season, and with Fall comes a pretty standard revamp in your closet and with your makeup/skincare routine. However, last year I recall that we had summer heat right up until mid-October in Ontario, so my mind is still set on shine control! I received a package of Boscia Vanilla Blotting Linens ($12.00/100 sheets) in a beauty bag I purchased recently, and I was excited to try them out. I think if you are familiar with the Boscia blotting linens, you are most likely aware of their green tea linens, which I am guessing are their most popular or well-known blotting linens. I was extremely happy to receive the vanilla linens because I LOVE all things vanilla.
Boscia Vanilla Blotting Linens
Boscia's blotting linens are made to absorb excess facial oil without disturbing makeup. They are made of 100% natural linen which is finely woven from the abaca tree plant. The linens are preservative free, and come in a compact holder that is perfect to slip into your purse for a mid-day shine control session! Boscia makes eight- you read that right, EIGHT different kinds of blotting linens, each infused with ingredients to help the skin. The ones I own have vanilla extract infused into them to help soothe, protect and calm the skin. I think the peppermint and California orange blotting papers sound amazing, as well!

Packaging for Boscia Blotting Linens
Firstly, the packaging on this product is simple and user friendly. The box is made of cardboard, but it is sturdy enough to withhold being kept in your handbag. The design is constructed similarly to a kleenex box, so that only one blotting linen will disperse at a time. These linens smell of gorgeous sweet vanilla- they smell good enough to eat! They're extremely thin, but not prone to breakage because they're made of linen. To use, you simply dab (don't rub!) the linen on any areas of your face that are oily, and it will soak the oil right up! I love them because they truly do not absorb or pick up any makeup- only facial oil! My makeup has been left undisturbed every time I've used these blotting papers, which is really impressive!
The linens do not have any powdered coating like some other branded blotting papers- it is just the linen doing all the work! They're a fair size, definitely enough to dab the majority of your face. They leave a matte finish and only take a second to apply! I am a true convert and these will be a staple in my purse for a long time to come- I feel that they are completely affordable and for a Boscia product, they're competitively priced.
as you can see, the Boscia Blotting Linen is a fair size- enough for your entire face!
Have you tried Boscia blotting linens? Do you use any blotting papers on a regular basis? Tell me about your faves!

In other news, I recently purchased the Caudalie Beauty Elixir after hearing many a rave review! Stay tuned for my thoughts once I've given it a go for a month!

  3. ahhh, i really need to get some new blotting sheets. i've run out for the past month and haven't gotten around to getting any. so i'll definitely get the boscia ones next time i'm at sephora!
i hope you love the caudalie spray. its not really a freshen up spray for me like the evian water spray. i use it like a toner most days and i do spritz it sometimes on top of makeup. i used to get like multiple breakouts, but now if any, theres about one only! and the only thing that has changed is this in my routine!

    1. that is awesome!! I wouldn't use it as a freshen up spray either- I've been using it once a day applied to my clean skin in the evenings.

  6. I haven't tried my blotting sheets yet but I have to get on that soon. It's fun to read your reviews of these products right before I use them lol

I've been reading great reviews too of the Beauty Elixir but I smelled it in person and it's not really appealing for me so that was disappointing for me.

  8. I love my Boscia green tea blotting papers - they're amazing - I don't understand why people don't just use these instead of applying blotting powder or reapplying foundation - perhaps they're worried it'll make their makeup disappear? But if you press instead of rub (like you mentioned) these never remove makeup. After I do my makeup for the day, I only carry around these papers and gloss, and I'm good to go - no need to reapply anything :-) One trick I have is to quickly blot before taking any pictures LOL - so that I don't end up with that weird t-zone shininess :-)

  12. Great post! Actually I hear that the paper toilet seat covers that are provided in washrooms can be cut into squares are used for the same purpose! However they would not smell of vanilla, but they would be cheaper!

  15. I've not tried this brand but I do use blotting papers regularly. I'm a bit paranoid that they end up making you oilier though (in terms of increasing oil production). The ones I use are by Missha. They're okay but nothing special. I think the texture of them is a bit scratchy. Looking forward to your Caudalie review! :)
